This Island Earth - Cittadino dello Spazio - Metaluna 4 (1954) ... Un classico della fantascienza, un film del 1955 che ci racconta la storia di Cal Meacham (Rex Reason), un giovane scienziato che sta studiando l'energia atomica. Viene incuriosito dall'arrivo di un misterioso catalogo di una fantomatica ditta che vende strumenti molto particolari ad alta tecnologia. Decide di acquistare un kit di montaggio di una sconosciuta strumentazione e quando arriva riesce ad assemblare il congegno. Appena accende la macchina da un monitor appare il volto di Exeter (Jeff Morrow) il quale si definisce anche lui scienziato e comunica che avendo costruito quel congegno ha superato il test che gli aveva sottoposto. Exeter chiede a Meacham di andare a lavorare da lui in Georgia perché stanno studiando una tecnologia che porrà fine a tutte le guerre. Meacham è incuriosito e si fa portare da uno strano velivolo senza pilota fino ad una base dove scoprirà di non essere il solo scienziato contattato. Però le cose si fanno misteriose e gli studi che svolgono sono alquanto curiosi. Meacham indagherà ed alla fine scoprirà che Exeter è un alieno e sta tramando qualcosa per conquistare la Terra ...

Affascinante, benché gli effetti speciali siano rudimentali, la storia è bellissima. Un film assolutamente da conoscere, parola di Gatto!...
